When you are in Coonoor, and if you have about 3 hours to spend, then you should drive from Coonoor to a place called Dolphin’s Nose.
Dolphin’s Nose is a famous tourist spot in Coonoor, but the attraction itself comes second when compared to the stunning views you will see when you drive to Dolphin’s Nose.
The 10 km distance between Coonoor and Dolphin’s Nose can be covered in about 30 to 45 minutes; Google Maps will help you to reach there.
Minty Alert For about 2 to 3 km of this stretch, the road is extremely narrow, it can accommodate only 2 MUV vehicles next to each other. When there’s a bus coming in the opposite direction, it’s tough to manoeuvre. So, it’s recommended to quickly drive past this tiny road stretch.
After the initial few kms of drive, the drive will be scenic – you will only see tea plantations, multiple layers of mountains, and beautiful curvy roads.
When you are driving towards Dolphin’s Nose, you will see a place called Glendale Tea Factory Outlet on your right hand side. This place is located about 400 meters before Dolphin’s Nose. This is the only good place in the entire stretch where you can relax, and have a top quality tea.
This is the view you get right in front of this tea outlet.
The best part of this tea outlet is – it has a great view point in it’s backyard. Since the outlet is located within a plantation, right behind the outlet is a large expanse of tea plantation which provides a good background for photos.
Minty Tip Glendale Tea Factory Outlet is the only place between Coonoor and Dolphin’s Nose that has a decent restroom.
Once you reach Dolphin’s Nose, on your left hand side you will see a thin waterfall, called “Catherine Waterfall” ( appears tiny because of the distance from the viewpoint). It is easily missed if you move around fast.
Minty Tip Park your vehicle at least 300-400 meter before Dolphin’s Nose, because the road leads to a dead end and taking a U-turn to come back will be very challenging.
