Sakleshpur, a town in Hassan district has few notable attractions. The one we will cover in this post is not a well-known place. It’s a place known for (very few) locals in Sakleshpur.
We stayed at Eka Resort in Sakleshpur. The general manager recommended us to visit a local attraction called “Sunset Point” and told us how to reach there.
How to reach sunset point
About 1 km from Eka Resort in Sakleshpur (road towards Bangalore), you will notice a small road towards your left-hand side. When we saw the road (below picture) we couldn’t believe it because of the narrow size, but we took a risk of driving in the road and finally it turned out to be the right road.
99.99% of the time you will not notice anybody around you beyond this point. For the 1 hour duration that we were there in sunset viewpoint – we didn’t see anyone else around us, not only in the viewpoint, but also for any viewable distance from the viewpoint.
Minty Alert: If you are going as a couple or solo, be extremely careful beyond this point. Even if you make a noise, there won’t be anyone around to hear.
Keep driving straight for about 400-500 meters till you see a road with four-wheeler track. You will see two roads – take the road that turns right.
Keep driving for 200-300 meters, you will enter a large open space.
Park the vehicle and enjoy the open view.
Minty Tip: Best time to be here is about 6 pm so that you can see the surroundings with decent sunlight, and after sometime you can also notice sunset too.
The sunset viewpoint place has many photography opportunities. Especially the uneven landscape and brownish green colored grass on floor adds a different flavor to the photograph.
Minty Alert: Some locals come to this place for drinking, so you will see broken glass bottles in some places. Be careful when you walk or run here.
